My Award Cup Runneth Over…..

I would like to thank the wonderful Kate Loveton at Odyssey of a Novice Writer for nominating me for a ton of awards!

So here goes with a breakdown of all of the lovely awards Kate has nominated me for….

The Inner Peace Award

According to the rules of accepting this award, I need to write a short paragraph about why I am accepting it, while also passing the accolade on to another fourteen bloggers who I feel are deserving of the honour.

I guess one of the main reasons why I’d like to accept this award is that I’ve done a lot of hard work these past few months in order to achieve a little inner peace for myself. I’ve made great strides this year and am finally feeling as if I am in the position to be hopeful about the future and more at peace with who I am as a person. Having removed myself from a damaging situation, I’ve been able to see how trapped I’d become and how pointless I often felt life was. I’m not perfect – far from it – and I will always be somewhat of a work in progress, but I’m on the road to finding a little inner peace and it feels good to know that I’m on my way at least.

The Angel Award

angelawardIn order to accept this award I am required to nothing but post it on my blog – no other strings attached to this one! 😆

The WordPress Family Award

I am very happy to have been nominated for the WordPress family award and it is something that means a great deal to me. Finding so many wonderful fellow bloggers and friends has been a wonderful and welcome surprise for me and I’m delighted to say that I feel as if I am part of a family for once and that it’s a pretty nice feeling too!

I endeavor to be as welcoming to new bloggers as I can, it’s always nice to see new faces around and welcome them to our thriving little community…..

The Premio Dardos Award

Not only is this my first Italian award, it also signifies something quite special. The translation of ‘Premio Dardos’ literally means ‘Prized Dart’ and the aware itself signifies bloggers who transmit core human values through their posts and other work. This award means a great deal to me because I work closely with people with a multitude of mental health issues and/or learning disabilities. Working with people who are disabled takes patience, respect, empathy, understanding, and a whole lot more besides. I attempt to give my best each day in not only my professional capacity but a personal capacity as well. Whether or not I am always successful is another matter entirely, but I think having a good heart and a willingness to do for others is a good place to start.

The Wonderful Team Member Award

Again, I am delighted to be able to accept this award nomination as I strongly believe in the core values that it signifies. A blog is nothing without a readership and a following, there are many of us who all follow and support each other and I very much enjoy that particular aspect of blogging. It doesn’t really matter what you blog about, it is having a community of which you’re a part of that really matters. We’re all here to support each other as a team and as a family, I think that’s pretty cool! 🙂

The Inspiring Blogger Award

very-inspiring-blogger11I’d like to thank Shannon A Thompson for nominating me for this rather snazzy award. Shannon is a fantastically talented young author whose Timely Death trilogy I absolutely adore. I am not just saying this, but I honestly believe that Shannon is most definitely the ‘next big thing’ in the genre of Young Adult books. Not only that, Shannon is a lovely young lady who always makes time for those who drop by her blog and leave a comment or a ‘like’. If you haven’t already ventured over to her site (and why ever not?!) please take a look and maybe even leave a note to say hi!

In regard to all of the lovely awards that have been bestowed upon me, I’d like to nominate the following ten bloggers whose blogs I think are pretty damn awesome…..

Mark Bialczak

Mark Baron at Woegman’s World of Witty Wonder

Jennifer Windram

Cathy at Between The Lines

Lauren at Bitten and Written

Deb at My Weary Mind

Charlotte Hoather

Mikial Millard

Holistic Wayfarer

Daydreaming in Words

Of course, participation and acceptance of these awards are strictly voluntary, I just wanted you guys to know that I think you’re all pretty cool…. 🙂

The Liebster Award

I am very happy to announce that I have recently been nominated for the Liebster Award. Many thanks go to orthodoxmom3 for the nomination. If you have not already visited her fantastic blog then I recommend you do so, her blog is orthodoxmom3.wordpress.com

In order to accept the award, I must do the following:

  1. Each nominee must link back to the person (blog) that nominated them
  2. Answer the 10 questions which are given to  you by the nominator.
  3. Nominate 10 other bloggers for this award who have LESS than 200 followers.
  4. Create 10 questions for our nominees to answer.
  5. Let the nominees know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them.

The questions that I have been set to answer by orthodoxmom3:

  1. What was your favorite book as a child or young adult and what made it your favorite? – I don’t really remember reading that many books when I was a child and none that really come to mind either. I do have fond memories of reading the Children’s Illustrated Bible and I often read that when I was growing up. I can still even remember the smell of the pages as I opened it.
  2. What do you consider your biggest accomplishment in life?  – Still being here. There are times when I didn’t think that I would make it this far. I’m glad I have though.
  3. What is your idea of a perfect day or night? – Good food and good company – who could ask for more?
  4. What do you consider your biggest challenge in life? – Every day is a challenge, but in a good way. There is always something new to discover, some new skill to learn. When life stops being interesting then that will be the day that I know I want to go.
  5.  What is your favorite food?  – I’m a big fan of many different cuisines but perhaps one of my favorite dishes has to be a classic chicken tikka masala curry. I like foods that are both fruity and spicy and this dish fits the bill nicely.
  6. What is your biggest dream or goal you are working on or wish to reach? – I have aspirations of one day becoming a published writer and this is something that I am working on with great gusto this year. In January alone I have pushed myself further than I ever have before. My hope is that at the end of it that I will have achieved at least part of my goal and not just a peptic ulcer….
  7. Give five words that describe a best friend.  Do you have one?  Tell about him or her if you wish.
    – I have a wonderful best friend who means the world to me. How to describe her in five words? Loyal, honest, honorable, sweet and funny. She’s great, one in a million and my best friend – and she knows who she is…..
  8.  What’s the one place in the world you would want to visit?  Why? – Pennsylvania, because my best friend lives there 🙂
  9.  If you won several million dollars in the lottery, what’s one thing you would do with it? – Buy my mother the house she’s always wanted, put money away for my cousin’s little ones, buy the people who mean the most to me at least one item that they have always wanted.
  10.  Tell one more thing about yourself that isn’t here and isn’t obvious by reading your blog. – I work with people who have disabilities – both learning and/or physical, I also specialize in diet, fitness and nutrition as well as working with people who have a number of complex and enduring mental health issues.

Here are my nominations for the award – these are all fantastic blogs that I recommend you check out if you have not done so already:

And finally, the ten questions that I would like my nominees to answer:

  1. Name someone – living or dead – that you aspire to be like and explain your reasons why.
  2. What is your earliest childhood memory?
  3. Are you still in contact with anyone you went to school with?
  4. If you had one day left to live, what would you do with it?
  5. Name three people – living or dead – that you would invite to a dinner party and explain why.
  6. What is the biggest lie you’ve ever told?
  7. Has anyone ever told you that you look like a celebrity – if so, who?
  8. Who or what was the first thing you thought of when you woke this morning?
  9. What is the worst film you’ve ever watched and what made it so bad?
  10. If you found $10 on the street, what would you do with it?

Versatile Blogger Award

Huge thanks to Gaurab for nominating me for the versatile blogger award. If you have not already done so, please check it his fantastic blog ‘Processing the Life’ here: http://processingthelife.com/2014/01/06/versatile-blogger-award/

As is always traditional, I now have to tell you seven things about myself. This is my fourth award and so some of these ‘facts’ may have been used in previous award acceptance posts. My apologies if this is the case; I am but a boring person with not many fun facts about myself to share….. 😆

1. I’ve challenged myself to write every day during the month of January. Some people may call this drive and determination, while others merely see it as an act of stupidity and a sure-fire way to make oneself ill.

2. I love me a good cup of java and simply cannot face the dawning of a new day without one.

3. I’m planning to grow my hair as long as I can this year, preferably until it is approximately halfway down my back. I’m six feet tall, do the maths….. 😆

4. I am planning to join a local writers group within the next few months.

5. I will take part in NaNoWriMo this year. I shall compete if it is the last thing I do!!

6. I will probably have given myself a hernia or a nervous breakdown (possibly both) by the time NaNoWriMo is done.

7. My iPad is my best friend – technologically speaking. As much as it may surprise some of you, I do have actual friends who are living beings. A shocking thought, I know…..

And now here are my seven nominations. Please check these blogs out if you haven’t already, I guarantee you’ll love em!
